POLL: Save 8 Percent on Your Natural Gas Bill

Are you taking advantage of this deal?

In late summer, mayor Don Brudie informed residents and businesses in Garden City about an opportunity to save 8 percent on their monthly published gas rate if they opt into a program the village has been a part of for the past year or so.

The village is a participant in the Nassau County Village Officials Association (NCVOA) natural gas buying group that the NCVOA has undertaken through a program with East Coast Power and Gas, LLC of Rockville Centre, according to the mayor.

East Coast Power and Gas extended its discount program to residents and commercial establishments. As a customer, your natural gas rate is "guaranteed" to be 8 percent lower and businesses are guaranteed to save 8.625 percent on the sales tax as well as receiving an 8 percent discount, according to Brudie.

Participants can opt in and out of the two-year program and National Grid will still set the bill, deliver the gas and offer emergency services. Terms may change after the two-year period, according to Brudie, and for any resident/commercial establishment that signs up the village will receive one-half of one cent per third used.

East Coast Power and Gas was expected to mail information to residents and businesses within Garden City regarding the program. You can also find more information here or by calling East Coast Power and Gas at 516-442-0155.
