Video: Camp Abilities Long Island
A special camp for visually- and hearing-impaired athletes hosted at Adelphi University.
Founded by Massapequa school district adapted physical education teacher Lisa Innella, Camp Abilities Long Island, currently hosted on the grounds of Adelphi University in Garden City, is a four-day camp where visually- and hearing-impaired child athletes are taught modified sports tailored to their special needs, such as Beep Baseball, Goalball, Tandem Biking and Swimming.
Camp Abilities helps handi-capable kids to get outside and make friends and gives them the confidence and knowledge that nothing is beyond their reach, as long as they work for it.
