Men's Soccer Volunteers Their Time and Raises Money for the Ronald McDonald House

Garden City, N.Y. – On Friday, October 26, members of the men's soccer team volunteered their time at the Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park and helped cook and serve food for nearly 90 people during the afternoon.

The team helped prepare a chicken and pasta meal for all the residence of the house and then were treated with a tour of the facility. Additionally, with the funds raised from Garden City Night on October 17, when the Panthers defeated the Princeton Tigers 1-0 in front of the home crowd on Motamed Field, the team was able to donate $1,000 to the Ronald McDonald House.

“First of all, I want to thank Garden City Soccer, our athletic department and University, as well as Princeton University for being part of Garden City Soccer Night and helping to raise money,” said Carlo Acquista, Head Coach of the men's soccer program. “It was a beneficial experience for everyone that was involved and being able to work with the staff at the Ronald McDonald House and help out made it a great day.”

The Ronald McDonald House Charities is a program that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. They believe that when a child is hospitalized the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.
