2012 Garden City Pool Applications Now Available: Get a head start on the summer! 2012 Garden City Pool applications have been sent to all residents! Check out the Splash newsletter to see all the great events planned and join us for another summer of ‘Fun in the Sun’ at the GC Pool. If you did not receive your application, visit www.gardencityrecreation.org or visit our Administrative Office at 108 Rockaway Ave.
Please note – our Swim Lesson Registration Form was inadvertently left out of the mailing. If you need this form you may download it from our website or visit our office for a copy. You can also make your own by listing your child’s name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the session and class code for which you are registering with a first and second choice. Mail all information with full payment of $15 for each child with your pool application. A separate $15 check must be enclosed for each child. Please make all checks payable to the “Inc. Village of Garden City.”
Easter Egg Hunt: The Garden City Recreation Department is once again sponsoring the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 at Garden City Community Park. This year three hunts will be held beginning at 10 a.m. with three age divisions: Preschool to Kindergarten, grades 1 and 2; and grades 3 to 5.
Special eggs will be stuffed and hidden for all divisions and each hunt will also feature a grand prize (an Easter basket filled with goodies) which will go to the youngster who finds the egg marked “#1 Lucky Egg."
For further information about the Hunt, please call the Recreation Dept. at 465-4075. For weather updates the day of the hunt, please call Communtiy Park at 483-2525. The raindate for the Easter Hunt will be Monday, April 9, at 10 a.m.
Registration for Roller Hockey Begins: Roller hockey begins this week for ages 5–14. There are limited openings available for this program. Visit our Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. to register for this program.
Adult Tennis Lesson Interest Form Now Available: Registration for the winter session of our adult tennis lessons has now started. Classes began in January and are played at the Community Park Tennis Center. Our 10-week, one-hour class costs $249. Our Recreation Department offers lessons for adults in all ability levels. In order to create sessions geared to the needs of our residents, we are asking any adult who is a resident in the Inc. Village of Garden City and is interested in our tennis lessons to fill out an interest form by visiting either our office at 108 Rockaway Ave. or downloading an application at www.gardencityrecreation.org. Please follow the directions listed.
-Choose the days and times you are available to play
-Self rate your tennis ability
-Either drop off or mail your application with a check for $249 made payable to the Inc. Village of Garden City to the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. Payment must accompany the form.
Classes will then be made by grouping people of similar abilities according to the dates they are available. Your check will not be cashed until you are entered in a class.
Adult Yoga Registration Begins: Connie McKnight, our certified yoga instructor, has designed adult yoga
classes with all ages in mind. Each class is one hour long. All classes began in mid-January. Any resident of the village is invited to join these relaxing classes. The session runs for 14 weeks at a cost of $91. The course schedule is as follows:
- Mondays at 7:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 23 to be held in St. Paul’s Senior Center
- Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. beginning Jan. 11 to be held in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall
