When Elias "Eli" Pagonis, a fifth grader at Stewart School, entered this year’s Doodle 4 Google logo design contest, he had no idea that his drawing would be selected from the over 107,000 submissions to be one of two New York State finalists in his age division.
“I’m in such good company,” the young artist humbly explained. “There were so many amazing drawings!”
Eli designed his rendition of the iconic “Google” logo based on his interest in architecture. “I want to be an architect. I want to build things, but I also like drawing,” he said. “I thought of the designs in my head and drew each letter individually. I probably made 20 drawings, spending an hour each day for a week, until I felt I was done.”
