The GC Men's Varsity Lacrosse Seniors Have Come a Long Way!

The class of 2013 Garden City Varsity Lacrosse Seniors have come a long way!

The memories are many and there still are a few more being made. It all "started" for some of these boys playing as 5 year olds at clinics at St Paul's.

Some of the coaching staff through the early years has included Coaches Worstell, Blatz, Bolte, Cortese, Defliese, Digan, Guterding, Leto, McDaid, Muller and Walsh.

In the Middle School, the boys were undefeated in 7th and 8th Grade. Going into the High School the boys continued their march going undefeated in 9th grade and with some good players up on varsity were 13-1 in the 10th grade. As juniors, the boys had senior leaders in Dwyer, Berkery, Marino, Kennedy, Savage, Ellis, McDonnell and Norton. Last year, the team was the NY State and National Champion with an amazing season and a 22-0 record.

This season is as exciting as ever! The team has significant contributions being made by juniors, sophomores and a freshman who will "re-load" next season and continue the Garden City winning tradition. With an excellent coaching staff of Steve Finnell '91, Dave Ettinger, and Joe Jacovina the boys are having an awesome senior season.  Fourteen of the seventeen seniors will be playing lacrosse in college.

The defense is one of the best on Long Island and is giving up fewer goals than last season's Nassau County low. The offense is exciting with many players contributing. The boys are unselfish and play as a team. Two of the teams losses have been to the current #1 team and the current #5 team in the USA.

In games where any team could win, the team is 15-3 and playing in the Nassau County finals this Tuesday May 28th 3:30pm at Hofstra..

With a career record of 66 - 4 the boys are already winners.

So come out this Tuesday and cheer for the school....cheer for the team...cheer for the seniors!
