Bites Nearby: Asian Moon

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Garden City Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here’s this week’s choice:

ASIAN MOON: Tranquil and relaxing are two of the adjectives restaurant goers use to describe this Asian fusion restaurant. Since opening in Garden City, Asian Moon has targeted both the lunchtime and dinner crowds. It provides take out or delivery service, and customers can also order online. Popular choices for lunch include the Sesame Chicken with samba sauce and the pan-seared Sesame Tuna. Salad lovers should try the Grilled Shrimp Salad (lemon grass shrimp with mesclun).

Asian Moon is soothing at night, especially if you sit near the waterfall which oozes down a window near the front entrance. Dinner entrees include chef’s selection favorites like the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Chicken (creamy lime sauce shrimp and sweet crispy chicken), the Indonesian Samba Delight (shrimp, scallops and chicken, shiitake, long beans and red onions), the Crispy Duck (with mixed greens) and the Basil Beef (shiitake, fresh Thai basil and peppers). Diners also get choices of Southeast Asia or Red China fare, or Stir-Fried Noodles and Fried Rice entrees.

The appetizers are very good here. Favorites include the Tempura Shrimp, Edamame (Japanese steamed soybeans) and Dim Sum (shrimp and pork with ginger dipping). Soups and salads are also plentiful.

With Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese dishes to choose from, it makes sense to order multiple appetizers and entrees. Suggestion?
