You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Garden City Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here’s this week’s choice:
Caffe Barocco: If you are a fan of La Bottega, you should like Caffe Barocco, which is the sister restaurant of the popular eatery. Caffe Barocco calls itself a Manhattan-style Tapas wine bar. Its Mediterranean cuisine is presented in small, stylish portions. Caffe Barocco also features a wine list of more than 400 imports. The name Tapas originated in Spain, and means a type of dining that reflects the chef's creativity in taste.
Unlike many restaurants featured here, Caffe Barocco reaches out to the breakfast crowd with a choice of omelets, sweet crepes, Belgian waffles, breakfast Paninis and create-your-own varieties.

Similar again to La Bottega, Caffe Barocco offers a slew of lunch and dinner dishes. There are the lunch and dinner specialties (Crespe-Panini-Insalate) and Tapas style dining. There is Ascoli – slowly roasted suckling pig with fresh mozzarella, broccoli rabe and spicy red peppers on Panini for $8.75; or the Hamburger Classica – (“A must try, period,” according to the menu) for $8.95.
Tapas fare features fish, pasta and meat. The Involtino Di Vitello (veal with fontina cheese, spinach, ham and sautéed mixed peppers) goes for $12.50. Want something on the “gamier” side? There is the Salsiccia (wild boar wrapped with prosciutto, served with fried polenta, topped with mushroom sauce) for $9.
