Committee Sets Plans For Pineapple Ball

It takes a great and varied committee to plan for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce’s Pineapple Ball gala, considered to be Garden City’s premier business and social event of the season.

A series of planning meetings have been in process leading up to the Ball’s 11th anniversary event to be held on April 19 at the Garden City Hotel.

The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of awards to four extraordinary individuals. They include Anthony (Tony) Randi, “Citizen of the Year;” Diane Chapman, recipient of “The Community Achievement Award;” and Dale Brokaw, Jan McDonough and Lois Tighe, “Business Persons of the Year.”  The Chamber Foundation, its charitable arm, will also present the “Althea Robinson Excellence in Business Education Scholarship Award” to Garden City High School senior Edward W. Blatz, Jr.

An added feature this year will be the addition of the renowned Alex Donner Orchestra, whose goal is to create a Ball that is musically magical, fun and exciting. Also in plan is a fabulous silent auction, a 50/50 Raffle at $20 each, with proceeds to benefit both chamber community programs and the charitable missions of the Chamber Foundation. Winner need not be present at the Pineapple Ball.
