Downed Wire Snarls Traffic Around Stewart Avenue

A downed power line caused severe traffic delays in and around Stewart Avenue in East Garden City Tuesday evening.

According to Nassau County Police, the electrical wire was just west of the Meadowbrook Parkway across Stewart Avenue.

Traffic was creeping but remained cut off in both directions near Endo Boulevard for nearly two hours.

Utility and emergency personnel crews remained on the scene as of 7 p.m.
