GCNS Holiday Boutique

Garden City Nursery School First Fund Raising Event to Benefit Hurricane Sandy Victims a Success!  Next Up… Holiday BoutiqueOn Wednesday, December 12th, The Garden City Nursery School will host its annual Holiday Boutique.  This long standing tradition will have an intimate feel this year as it is graciously hosted in the elegant home of Cynthia Cerruti-Frankel at 25 Prospect Avenue from 10:00am – 3:00pm.  Please join us for refreshments, bake sale, raffles, balloon auction and a chance to shop among fabulous vendors.  There is no admission to this event, but we will be accepting donations at the door to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy.  A babysitter will be on hand to watch the little ones as you shop!On Saturday, December 1st, The Garden City Nursery School presented the adorable Children’s Theater event of “A Fairy Tale Winter” performed by Plaza Theatrical at The Showplace at Bellmore Movies.  In addition to raising money from the sale of magic wands and snow crowns for those affected to the recent storms, The Garden City Nursery School also extend an invitation to the families of The Blackheath Pre-K in Long Beach, which was devastated by Sandy.  Current GCNS attendees as well as alumni purchased tickets and donated them for The Blackheath families to attend.Garden City Nursery School Director, Ann Amengual said, “Not only was this event a wonderful live theater experience for our children, but it was also a “teachable moment” where the children learn empathy and compassion by taking actions that help others and watching parents who model kindness, generosity and compassion.  On all counts, the Children’s Theater event was a huge success and we’re looking forward raising additional funds for those affected at our Holiday Boutique next Wednesday, and invite the community to join us to do the same.”For information regarding the Holiday Boutique, please call 516.481-7765.The Garden City Nursery School, a parent cooperative founded in 1951, is registered and chartered by the New York State Department of Education.  It is governed by a parent Board of Trustees and an appointed professional teaching staff, which is New York State certified. Garden City Nursery School was recently awarded the “2012 People's Choice Award” for Best Preschool by the Garden City Patch, where parents voted for their favorite local nursery school.  Registration is currently open for the 3’s and 4’s for next year, and 2 year old registration will start soon.  For more information about registering for the 2013-2014 year, call (516) 481-7765, or www.gcns.org
