Going to Outer Space with the Grumman Lunar Module

This was the type of spacecraft that landed man on the moon.

Ground Control, we're ready for take off!

The Cradle of Aviation Museum, located in Garden City's Museum Row, offers a variety of aircrafts and memorabilia that capture moments from history.

Patch has taken flight on an adventure, exploring some of the museum's most popular exhibits, starting with a 1939 Grumman Goose and then moving on to the Grumman F-14 Tomcat

This week, we head to outer space and explore the Grumman Lunar Module, which is the type of spacecraft that landed man on the moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were all built by Grumman in Bethpage.

"There was supposed to be more trips to land on the moon," Museum Curator Joshua Stoff said. "But those missions were cancelled to save money. This is the spacecraft that could have gone to the moon on the Apollo 19 Mission."
