1. Italian Festival

Where/When: Michael J. Tully Park, Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 24 - 26 from 6 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 27 from 3 to 11 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 28 from 3 to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Food court, zeppolis, pastries, rides, Las Vegas games of chance, vendors and musical entertainment (each evening). Community Appreciation Day (Sunday 3-5 p.m. ~ Free admission and 1/2 price pasta).

2. National Circus Project

Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, Thursday and Friday Aug. 25 and 26 at 2 p.m.

Why Go: National Circus Project will introduce everyone to the art of balancing, juggling, clowning, plate spinning and much more.

Pricing: $4 with museum admission, $3 LICM members, $8 theater only

3. Kids Night Out! Beetle Mania!

Where/When: Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center, Friday August 26 from 6 - 9 p.m.

Why Go: If you like nature games, night-time animals and walks in the dark, then you'll have a blast exploring different types of insects and discovering how important they are to our everyday lives. Register early.

Pricing: $25 for one child, $10 for additional siblings

4. Long Island Scottish Festival

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, Saturday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go: Events include The Highland Games: Caber Toss, Putting the Stone and Tossing the Sheaf. Kids’ events and entertainment, including Caber Toss, Races, Tug of War, Pony Rides, Storytelling, Facepainting, Petting Zoo, Bert the Raccoon, Dog Agility Exhibits and much more.

Pricing: Admission: $15 General; $10 Seniors (over 62); $5 ages 7-17

5. Family Show at the GC Pool

Where/When: Garden City Pool, Aug. 28 from 2 - 3:15 p.m.

Why Go: Kids of all ages will enjoy the magic, juggling and entertainment of Lou Johnson.
