Historical Society Professional Art Show Begins November 3

The Garden City Historical Society will hold its seventh annual professional art show, “Garden City in Art: a Mixed Media Exhibit,” at the Garden City Historical Society Museum, 109 Eleventh Street, Nov. 3-10.

An artists reception takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, followed by exhibit hours on Tuesday, Nov. 5 (Election Day), from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9-10, 1 to 3 p.m.

The exhibit is free.

Participating local artists this year include Suzie Alvey, Doug Anderson, Jock Anderson, Mary Jane Caldwell, Susana Eqües Cerruti, Angela Chiodo, Noel Darvie, Peter Langan, George Mamos, Marianne Reamer, John H.W. Rhein III and Barbara Rocco. They will display artworks in sculptures, digital photography, pastels, pen and ink watercolors, ink tempera, ink gouache and oils.

Celebrate and support these Garden City artists, and experience the Victorian-era atmosphere when you step into The Garden City Historical Society Museum, an 1872 structure, which was one of the original homes built in A.T. Stewart’s planned community of Garden City.

Visitors can browse the Museum Gift Shop, and those attending the art show on Tuesday and Saturday are welcome to stop at the A.T. Stewart Exchange on the lower level.

The Society’s consignment shop hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. Please note that the Museum is now open to the public every Tuesday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; tours of the main floor are led by a member of the Historical Society board of trustees.
