International Adoption Forum at Community Church

     International adoption advocate, Harrison Oellrich will speak at the Garden City Community Church Forum on Sunday, March 10th at 9:15 am.  The Garden City resident will discuss the current plight of children and their adoptive parents and show a movie clip from "STUCK." 
     The documentary, STUCK is about the roadblocks currently present in the process of international adoption. The full length film will be premiered across the country in an old-fashioned barnstorming tour, 60 cities in 78 days. For more information, see http://bothendsburning.org /.
     Harrison Oellrich was recently named to the board of directors of Both Ends Burning, an international adoption advocacy non-profit foundation based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Oellrich is founding president and managing principal of Ottauquechee Risk Consultants, a reinsurance and risk management consulting firm. He also worked 31 years and was a managing director of Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, the reinsurance subsidiary for Marsh & McLennan. Throughout his career he assumed leadership roles in several joint public/private initiatives designed to work collaboratively with the Federal Government to create a more secure internet/network environment. He has advised the White House, members of Congress and their committees as well as the Department of Homeland Security, Office of Cyberspace Security, Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office and the President’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Board. He has been an ongoing contributor to the overall “National Plan” process. He has written, spoken and been interviewed extensively on these and other subjects over the years.
     Oellrich earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and an MBA with a concentration in management from Hofstra University.
     Harry and his wife, Roxanne and their three adoptive children live in Garden City where he coaches youth athletics as a part of the Centennials and Garden City Athletic Association programs. He also serves on the board of Lutheran Social Services of New York and is a commissioned deacon of the Atlantic District of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.
     The following Sunday, March 17th the Community Church Forum will welcome workers from AmeriCorps who will talk about their clean- up efforts on the south shore and at the Tanners Pond Environmental Center in town. Teens and young adults are especially welcome to attend.
