The top five things you need to know on July 22:

1. Hot Hot Hot: If you thought yesterday's heat and humidity was bad, today is going to be worse. According to www.weather.com, temperatures are expected to hit 87 degrees by 9 a.m. but will actually feel like 97 degrees because of the humidity. By 3 p.m., 97 degrees but will feel like -- 108 degrees. Stay cool Garden City, stay cool.

2. On The History Trail: Check out where the history trail took village historian John Ellis Kordes this week in our latest video installment, coming at you live at 11 a.m.

3. Library Board Meeting: There will be a special meeting of the board of library trustees Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Garden City Public Library.

4. Special Board of Ed Meeting: There will be a special board of education meeting July 29 at 9 a.m. in the boardroom at the Administration Building to approve bids for the construction projects.

5. End-of-the-Season Pool Staff Needed: The Garden City Pool is looking for energetic and responsible students who are willing to work the last weeks of the summer. If you are 16 years or older and a high school junior or older, please visit the Pool Office at Community Park to fill out an application.
