July 26: A Fly Fishing Adventure, Airpane Noise and an Afternoon Tea Party

The top five things you need to know on July 26:

1. Bubbles: This event is in conjunction with the Long Island Children's Museum (LICM) and is appropriate for children ages two-and-a-half to 5 (not entering kindergarten in the fall 2011) with a caregiver. It kicks off at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Registration is required and began July 19 at 9:30 a.m. via Eventkeeper. Call 516-742-8405 for more information.

2. Afternoon Tea Party: Visit the Cupcake Corner Too! today and every Tuesday anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for an afternoon tea party fit for English royalty! The cost is $29.95 per adult, one child eats free. Children above the 1:1 ratio are $10.95 each. Reservations are required. Call 516-328-2253 for more information.

3. Board of Appeals Meeting: Garden City's Board of Appeals will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the village hall boardroom to discuss a full agenda, including a variance seeking to use a portion of the Presbyterian Church on Chester Avenue as a day care/preschool facility for approximately 40 children. The owners of 301 Franklin Avenue (more commonly known as the Doubleday property) will also discuss their plans to erect a 54-unit, three-story condominium at the site.

4. Airplane Noise: Patch attended Monday evening's TVASNAC meeting in Lawrence and will have a full report today. Stay tuned.
