1. Board of Education Work Session: Garden City's board of education will meet for a work session at 8:15 p.m. at Garden City High School. Residents are encouraged to attend this public meeting.

2. Artwork by the Children from The Thang Long School in Viet Nam: Original paintings created by students from The Thang Long School in Viet Nam are on display at the Long Island Children's Museum beginning at 10 a.m. This display is appropriate for all ages and is free with museum admission.

3. College Accounting Challenge at Adelphi: Margolin, Winer & Evens Long Island is hosting the fourth annual “College Accounting Challenge” at Adelphi University in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall beginning at 6 p.m. The challege is a quiz-show-style event that will pit five teams of four representing Adelphi, NYIT, Molloy College, SUNY Old Westbury and Briarcliff College against each other and test the students’ knowledge in their chosen field. 4. Hannon's Extended Office Hours: Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau) announced this week that he has extended his community office hours. For November: Wednesday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sen. Hannon’s community office is located at 595 Stewart Avenue, Garden City and his telephone number is 516-739-1700.

5. Golden Goose Gala Save the Date: Twigs of Winthrop-University Hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary is pleased to announce its much-anticipated Golden Goose Gala event will be held Friday, Nov. 18. Click here for more information.
