St. Patrick’s Day Parade Returns to Mineola in 2013

Irish American Society Parade will be step off Sunday at 1 p.m. behind the courthouse on Old Country Road.

Irish American Society President Patrick Kerins announced the return of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade to Mineola for 2013.

The parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 3.

“This will be the Society’s 63rd parade but only the second time to march in Mineola,” Kerins said in a statement. “The parade promises to be a great event as we celebrate St. Patrick’s life. There will be many marchers, high school bands, pipe bands, step dancers, members from law enforcement and the fire service. It will be a grand day.”

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. behind the courthouse on Old Country Road, proceed west on Old Country Road to Mineola Boulevard. Marchers will turn right on to Mineola Boulevard and continue to Jericho Turnpike.

At Jericho Turnpike they will turn right and the parade will pass the reviewing stand and conclude before Willis Avenue.

This year the grand marshal is Patrick J. Sexton from Floral Park and his Aides are Maureen Clark from Mineola, Louise McCann, Ed Friel from Westbury and Patrick J. Smith from Floral Park.
