Sunrise Highway, Meadowbrook Parkway Lane Closures Announced

The closures are needed to install scaffolding and set up temporary concrete barrier for construction operations.

The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced closures that will affect Sunrise Highway Wednesday and Meadowbrook Parkway Thursday.

On Wednesday, two eastbound and two westbound travel lanes of Sunrise Highway will be closed between Babylon Turnpike and Henry Street in Merrick between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On Thursday, two travel lanes on the Meadowbrook Parkway will be closed in the northbound and southbound directions between Babylon Turnpike (Exit M7) and Merrick Road (Exit M9) between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

These closures are needed to install scaffolding and set up temporary concrete barrier for construction operations on the Meadowbrook Parkway Bridge over Sunrise Highway as part of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) bridge parapet wall replacement project.

"Drivers are urged to use alternate routes such as Merrick Road or they will experience delays" they said in a release. "As with most road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather."
