"Will Sing for Food" Concert Scheduled for January 4th and 5th

It's the busy Christmas season, but there is a group of 30 singers who are already rehearsing for a big event in January. The biennial charity concert, "Will Sing for Food" is a combination of songs with talented, experienced singers and musicians with an altruistic side- all proceeds will help fund The Long Island Council of Churches food pantries. This year, there is a special fund for Hurricane Sandy victims.
Andy Morreale, one of the directors said, "Our performers consists of high schoolers, adults and college students who are home for the holidays. We have a fun- filled night planned which will even involve audience participation. Our program is filled with a variety of songs from different genres from folk to rock, bluegrass to pop. Our opening number is a song called 'Care' by Kid Rock."
Two churches are sponsoring the concert this year. The first night, Friday, January 4th, the Board of Outreach at Garden City Community Church will host the concert. Reserve seat tickets can be bought by e-mailing WillSingForFood@me.com or calling the church office at 516.746.1700. It is located at 245 Stewart Avenue, corner of Whitehall Boulevard.
The second night, Saturday, January 5th, the Worship, Arts and Music, in combination with the Board of Session at the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport will host the concert. Reserve tickets can be bought by calling the church office at 516.379.1114. The church is located at 178 South Ocean Avenue.
Tickets for both venues are $20 each. Come to enjoy the music and help support those in need.
