Annual 'Will Sing for Food' Concerts Scheduled for January

Garden City Community Church will host a concert Jan. 4.

It's the busy Christmas season, but there is a big event in January to mark on your calendar.

Thirty musicians are rehearsing for their yearly concert, "Will Sing for Food." The night will be filled with a variety of songs from different genres from pop to rock, folk to Broadway. All donations will help fund the Long Island Council of Churches' food pantries. Suggested donation is $20 each. Come to enjoy the music and help support those in need.

Two churches are sponsoring the concert this year. The first night, Friday, Jan. 3, the Worship, Arts and Music committee, in combination with the Board of Session at the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport will host the concert. The church is located at 178 South Ocean Avenue. E-mail WillSingForFood@me.com or call 379-1114 for more information.

The second night will be Saturday, Jan. 4, where the Board of Outreach at Garden City Community Church will host the concert. It is located at 245 Stewart Avenue, corner of Whitehall Boulevard, in Garden City. E-mail WillSingForFood@me.com or call the church office at 746-1700 for more information.

Garden City Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ and is an Open and Affirming congregation. Worship services are Sundays at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel and 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary, with church school for children and a crib room for infants and toddlers during the latter service.
