CAFE ABLAZE Stirs To The Beat Of Two Bands: Servants of the Shepherd & Soul Progression

CAFE ABLAZE, the Christian coffeehouse hosted by Garden City's Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, once again opens its doors on Saturday, May 15. A terrific evening of entertainment in the café's friendly, casual atmosphere awaits with two talented contemporary bands performing back-to-back and stirring things up onstage.

Each of the thirty beautifully decorated candle-lit tables on the auditorium floor offer a good view of what's percolating onstage. Featured will be Servants of the Shepherd (www.servantsoftheshepherd.org), whose six members blend inspiring contemporary Christian vocals with guitar, bass, electronic woodwind, percussion and drums. Their original songs consist of foot-tapping, hand-clapping melodies just infused with Spirit!

Servants of the Shepherd have appeared in many venues including church/worship settings, Christian fund-raising events, Christian coffeehouses, church picnics and concert settings. With a mission of promoting the word of God, their spiritual beliefs and trust in the Lord have been at the center and success of their ministry. The band has performed with many gifted artists, and their original pieces have been showcased on EWTN / Telecare and Access TV.  Pictured are their two founders and lead singers/songwriters.

The band opening the evening will be Soul Progression. Their nine members, pictured, regularly perform at the New Hyde Park Baptist Church's Saturday night worship Service. Soul Progression has an eclectic mix of songs ranging from reworked versions of older praise songs, rewritten hymns, modern praise songs and original songs. Their musical styles include blues, rock, folk, hip-hop, and jazz.

All of this talent is in addition, of course, to what black tee-shirted CAFE ABLAZE volunteers, and others, will be brewing in the kitchen and artfully setting on tables just outside of it. The generous selection of self-service offerings will include specialty coffees and teas and delectable desserts including a healthy fruit salad.

Be sure to save room for the flavored gelatos only available during Intermission. Keep your ticket stub handy during this time as well. Its number just might be drawn when emcee, Pastor Jeff Browning, conducts the three Intermission door prize raffles.

With all that will be percolating at the coffeehouse on Saturday, May 15, from 7 to 10:15 p.m., why not plan on savoring a great night out at CAFE ABLAZE? Even better, bring a friend and take advantage of the bargain twofer!

Tickets, sold at the door, are $10 each or two for $15.
