Garden City's Summer Concert Series is Back

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the show.

The recreation department's popular summer concert series on the village green kicks off Thursday with The Tribunes, a five-man a cappella group harmonizing to the popular tunes of the 1950s and 1960s.

The seven-week series will feature several music genres including bluegrass, fine "street corner harmony," classic big band and swing, jazz, doo wop and more.

The free concerts, which take place every Thursday at 7:15 p.m. through Aug. 12, were first offered in the 1980s and have been entertaining residents every summer season since.

Mark your calendars for the remaining line-up:

In case of inclement weather, all shows are held indoors at the Cultural & Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall in the St. Paul's Recreation Complex. Proof of Garden City residency will be required due to space limitations at the indoor facility. For more information, call the recreation department at 516-465-4075 or visit its new website.
