Please. I am virtually begging the GC BOT to NOT allow for a zoning change to 191 Seventh St. This is the new building on the corner of 7th and Franklin...the heart of GC's downtown. Yes, the vacant stores are terrible to look at and everyone wants some great new additions to town (no food, though, since there are residences above). But at what cost? The owner wants to leave approx. 1/3 the space (5,000 sq.ft) to Bank of America.
Think about this...there's a place in town where a bank is not allowed...why would we ever let a bank BE allowed all of a sudden? There are WAY too many banks. There is no debating that. Let BofA take over a current bank space if they absolutely have to be in downtown Garden City. It's a killer and it should not be allowed to happen.
To top it off, you would be awarding the deceitfulness of the owner. The owner said the building would house small, upscale boutiques and shops when he looked for approval. A big bank is not exactly that.
