A threat at
Garden City Middle School Friday afternoon put the school on lockdown at approximately 1:52 p.m.
According to a statement released by the school district, "Police responded quickly, assessed the
situation
and concluded with the building administration that no direct threat
was present. The building then returned to its regular schedule.”
The threat, according to a recorded message to parents from Principal Dr. Peter Osroff, was found in a bathroom. After a threat assessment, police concluded children were not in danger and were allowed to proceed with their normal class times. Police maintained a police presence in the area until recess.
Police are currently investigating the incident and will prosecute to the fullest extent of
the law, according to the recorded message.
