Mom Charged With Attempted Murder a Garden City Bus Driver, Lunch Monitor

Elizabeth Marrinan, the Garden City mom police allege stabbed her husband in the chest with a steak knife during a dinnertime argument Sunday, works as a bus driver for the Garden City school district as well as a lunch monitor at Stewart School, according to CBS New York.

Garden City Patch has confirmed Marrinan, arrested Sunday evening at her Pine Street home and charged with attempted murder, assault and possession of a dangerous weapon, is an employee of the union free school district.

A school district statement released to Patch Tuesday reads, "The district was saddened to hear of this unfortunate incident. The matter is in police hands. We have no further comment at this time."

The incident, according to Nassau County detectives, occurred at 6:07 p.m. Jan. 20. Garden City police responded to the scene and placed Marrinan under arrest without incident, according to a police report. Marrinan's husband, Peter, 57, was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Marrinan was arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
