Garden City's Belmont Festival Rescheduled

Inclement weather pushes annual street fair to June 28.

Due to inclement weather, Garden City's sixteenth annual Belmont Festival has been rescheduled.

Festivities will kick off at the same time and place on Friday, June 28 -- Seventh Street, 6-10 p.m.

Friday's forecast calls for rain all day and evening as the region feels the effects of Tropical Storm Andrea, the first named storm of the season. According to the National Weather Service, one to two inches of rain is possible Friday, with an additional one to two inches Friday evening.

The last time the village street fair was cancelled was in 2009. It's held every year on the eve of the famed Belmont Stakes. The event has never been rescheduled until this year.
