Vacant in Garden City: Former Viking Store Could Become New Restaurant

Albanese Organization seeking site plan approval at Wednesday's Planning Commission meeting.

Franklin Avenue may soon boast another restaurant if things go well for an application the Albanese Organization submitted to the Planning Commission this month.

An eatery could open at the space once occupied by the Viking Culinary Center. The upscale kitchen/bath retail store and cooking school, which regularly offered classes from its 835 Franklin Avenue location, closed its doors in June 2011 after calling Garden City home for eight years.

The Albanese Organization is seeking site plan approval at tonight's Planning Commission meeting, scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Garden City Village Hall boardroom.
