RE/MAX of New York Presents Relief Checks to Agents Impacted By Hurricane Sandy at Garden Ciy Headquarters

December 12, 2012, Garden City, NY – RE/MAX of New York, Inc. held a special gathering at its headquarters in Garden City, New York to support RE/MAX broker/owners and agents affected by Hurricane Sandy. Attending were brokers and agents who live and work within storm ravaged communities in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties. Agents were presented with checks to help them recover from the storm that damaged their homes and property.

More than 15 RE/MAX professionals from offices including RE/MAX Hearthstone in Merrick, RE/MAX Signature in Setauket and Babylon; RE/MAX Eastern Properties in Ronkonkoma; RE/MAX Liberty in Ozone Park, and RE/MAX Shores in Oceanside and Baldwin attended the event. Checks for nearly $15,000 were presented to RE/MAX agents affected by the storm; additional checks will be distributed in the coming weeks as applications for funding are processed.

“There are many RE/MAX agents from Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island who have been hard hit by the storm. Some agents are still without heat and others working to put their lives back together. The resilience of the people we presented relief fund checks to today is remarkable. Many, despite their personal hardships, are out helping others in their communities and working hard to provide customers with the services that they need. They are true professionals and inspiring individuals,” said Henry Weber, President and Regional Director of RE/MAX of New York, Inc.

The agents shared stories about their personal ordeals and ways they are helping other victims. They talked about the overall impact of the storm on their communities as well its effect on the real estate market and deals that are happening and not happening. The RE/MAX Relief Fund was established by RE/MAX LLC after Hurricane Katrina. Funds raised go to support RE/MAX professionals in parts of the world impacted by natural and other disasters. RE/MAX is committed to taking care of its own. For more information about RE/MAX of New York, Inc. visit www.remax-ny.com.
