After being in business for more than 16 years, Salon Imperiale has upgraded to a new location with more space and a new decor to offer clients. The salon, which was formerly located at 103 Seventh Street, has now moved to a larger location at 668 Franklin Avenue.
Owner Gino Imperiale has been in the salon business for the past 24 years, working in three different locations over his career. The former location was opened in 1996. Salon Imperiale opened the new storefront for business on June 1.
“The location on Seventh, even though it was a quaint little store, there was no foot traffic,” Imperiale said. “There is so much foot traffic and so much more visibility being here.”
Currently, the sign above the new storefront reads “Figaro’s Salon” but according to Imperiale this will soon be replaced with a sign reading “Salon Imperiale.”
Clientele has also increased since the relocation. “I get at least one new client a day either coming in for service or for a consultation,” he stated. “I never realized it would make such a difference, but it really has.”
Along with the expansion of the salon itself, the salon now has use of the communal parking lot located behind the salon, as well as a back door entrance which didn’t exist at the old location. The interior now possesses a modern decor and Imperiale explained that artwork to enhance the new appearance is currently on its way.
“The old location was cubicles, this is more open,” he explained.
Clients have also seemed to like the vibe of the new location. “They like that it is airy and it is brighter,” Imperiale told Patch. “Many clients have been saying that it is the vibe in here.”
Chavaun Cortez, a hairstylist who has worked with Imperiale for many years, added, "It is definitely more of a family place,."
