Lord & Taylor holds second annual SHOP SMART. do good! fundraising event to benefit charities around the area.
Lord & Taylor held its annual shopping fundraiser SHOP SMART. do good! April 13 to raise money for approximately 120 local charities based in and around the village.
The charities sold exclusive tickets for the second annual event.
"Last year, organizations collectively raised over $500,000," Joseph Ricaurte, Lord & Taylor's vice president and general manager, said. "We look forward to partnering with even more groups this year."

The $5 tickets included a day-long, no exclusions 15 percent off shopping pass and a one-time use, 20 percent shopping pass that had very limited exclusions. Not only did customers enjoy a day of discounted shopping, they were able to take part in other events going on throughout the store.
The Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, Garden City Kiwanis Foundation and Friends of Garden City Library were among the village organizations that benefited.

Helping Promote Animal Welfare, Inc. or Helping PAW was another; monies raised will help provide basic wellness care to animals whose owners are on government assistance.
Gail Douglas, director of spa operations at Le Visage Spa in Garden City, worked hard selling tickets for the event. Le Visage, a medical spa that offers cosmetic surgery and dentistry, among other services, also benefited from the event.
Throughout the day, shoppers were able to meet makeup artists from Bobbi Brown, CHANEL, Dior and other well-known designers and have complimentary makeovers by the leading stylist in the industry. The Bobbi Brown station was busy throughout the day.
The award-winning and acclaimed restaurateur, Sarabeth, was there signing jars of her spreadable fruits. Participants were able to sample some of her well-known foods.
The designer of Lord & Taylor's exclusive collection Black Brown 1826, Joseph Abboud, also made an appearance to meet and greet his fans. His collection is one of the more popular clothing lines at the store.
Near the children's clothing section on the second floor, shoppers were captivated by the Eglevsky Ballet. The show included dances from Swan Lake and the ballerinas ranged in age from 11-17. There were also balloon characters, made by the Great Wandini, for the younger set.
Trunk shows for the Lilly Pulitzer clothing line and the Baume & Mercier watch company were also held and Carolee held a pearl rope and bridal trunk show, teaching shoppers how to wear their pearls and offering tips to brides on what jewelry to wear on their special day.
The evening closed with professional ballroom dancers Greg Ryzio and Daria Tertova, who danced a mixture of mostly Latin ballroom dances. They also taught customers some well-known dances.
