Things & Stuff Closing Its Doors in September

Seventh Street fixture bidding Garden City a "fond farewell."

A visibly emotional Dean and Teresa Adams welcomed shoppers into Things & Stuff Tuesday morning, many of whom were shocked to see a huge pink sign in the storefront's window that reads, "Store Closing. Thanks For The Memories...We Bid You A Fond Farewell."

For many, this was the first they had heard of the gift shop's closing.

Joan Hederman, who lives in Garden City and frequented the store often, said Dean and Teresa will be sorely missed. "They've been such wonderful people," she said. "They've been a true asset to this community."

The shop, which carries everything and anything from invitations and children's clothing to unique items for the home, will be shutting its doors at the end of September.

"We'd like to say thank you to all of our loyal customers," Dean said.

He encourages shoppers to take advantage of the sales going on right now in the shop; much of the merchandise is 50 percent off, including novelty gifts and seasonal items for the upcoming holidays.

Everything must go, including fixtures and display items. All gift certificates and store credits will be honored if issued within one year. In-stock items are currently 33 percent off. Waterford crystal is 40 percent off. A variety of cloth napkins are now $8. Handbags are on sale. All in-stock Crabtree & Evelyn and Camille Beckman products are 50 percent off. Pink silk children's dresses are 40 percent off.

Dean and Teresa bought the store in 2009 from former owners Elliot Tulkoff and his business partner, Linda, revamped it and opened in September of that year. They were the third owners.
