Vacant in Garden City: Steakhouse Coming to Franklin Avenue

Trustees grant final site plan approval to Albanese Organization for Revel, an American-themed restaurant with a concentration on Prime steak.

Garden City will soon boast its own steakhouse as the restaurant Revel makes its way to 835 Franklin Avenue, former home of Viking Culinary Center.

Trustees granted the Albanese Organization final site plan approval Thursday night to move ahead with the 147-seat restaurant complete with two dining areas (51 seats and 62 seats respectively), a lounge (20 seats) and bar area (14 seats), according to John Wilton, chair of the Professional Retailers and Merchants group.

Wilton added outside dining is also on tap for the "American-theme restaurant, with worldly influences," that will have a concentration on Prime steak.

"It's our first steakhouse in the village," he said. "It will probably be extremely successful because we've had a dire need for that all these years."

Viking, the upscale kitchen/bath retail store and cooking school which regularly offered classes, closed its doors in June 2011 after calling Garden City home for eight years.

No specific date on the restaurant's grand opening has been released.
