The top five things you need to know on Aug. 10:

1. Islanders Ice Girl Audition: Ever wonder what it takes to be a New York Islanders Ice Girl? Come back later today as Stacey Sweet takes readers on a journey to meet this year’s team.

2. Patch Chat: Patch recently sat down with Garden City resident Danielle Genova to find out more about her fight to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis. Check out the full story today at 12 p.m. 

3. Mobile Office: Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I – East Meadow) will be holding mobile office hours at the Garden City Library today from 1 to 3 p.m. This is a great chance for local constituents to talk about a variety of issues with the assemblyman. All are welcome.

4. Planning Commission Meeting: The Garden City Planning Commission will be meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.

5. Food Drive: Remember, the Garden City Library is collected non-perishable food items from now until the end of August. Acceptable donations include canned goods, snack foods, personal care items and more. Click here for additional information.
