Chaminade Athletic Center Offering Heat and Power Sunday

Chaminade AAC will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Marianist brothers at Chaminade High School are opening the school doors Sunday, not just for students, but as a haven to alumni and neighbors who might be affected by Hurricane Sandy.

In a Nov. 3, 2012 letter, Chaminade President Bro. Thomas Cleary, S.M., noted that the school’s activities and athletic center on Jericho Turnpike would be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday to provide electricity and heat for those who may require the assistance. A notice on the school website also noted that coffee would be available.

“You, or your neighbors, are welcome to come and re-charge any electronic equipment and/or warm yourselves up,” Cleary wrote.

A decision about whether or not the school would be open on Monday, November 5 had not yet been made and that a decision would be posted on the school’s website on Sunday afternoon. The school has been closed since October 29, only having power recently restored.
