Crime Blotter: Coquette Shoplifter, Overpass Collision, Harassment

A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 27
: An unknown vehicle struck and damaged a parked unoccupied vehicle in Parking Field 12 before leaving the scene without stopping.

March 28: After stopping a vehicle for passing a red traffic light on Nassau Boulevard at Cambridge Avenue, Officer Dallolio arrested the driver, a male 25-year-old from Franklin Square, for aggravated DWI (.18 percent blood alcohol content) and passing a red light.

: A resident reports the theft or loss of a cell phone in Parking Field #8. 

March 29
: A home healthcare worker reports the theft of her vehicle, a 1999 Toyota, which was parked at a Westbury Road residence.

March 29: Garden City detectives arrested a male 42-year-old from Port Washington for aggravated harassment after making several alarming and threatening phone calls to a Franklin Avenue business office.

March 29: The rear bumper to a car parked on Hudson Street was found damaged.

March 30: Officer Oswald stopped a male 33-year-old from Uniondale for making improper/unsafe lane changes on Clinton Road and subsequently arrested him for DWI (.16 percent blood alcohol content), unlicensed operation, two lane violations and uninsured operation.

March 30: A female subject stole assorted clothing valued at $263 from Coquette on Seventh Street.

March 31: Officers responded to a criminal trespass complaint after a ladder was found in the fenced in portion of the Bird Sanctuary.

March 31: A male 39-year-old from Centereach was arrested for criminal contempt after violating a court order to stay away from his ex-girlfriend’s residence. He was also charged with possession of alleged cocaine and marijuana.

March 31
: A vehicle driven by a female 75-year-old from Stewart Manor was traveling south on New Hyde Park Road attempting a left turn on to Fairmount Boulevard. Her vehicle came in collision with a vehicle travelling northbound. The vehicle then continued, striking a fence in St Anne’s Parking Field and two parked vehicles. There were no reported injuries.

April 1: A male 50-year-old from Brooklyn was operating a Medi-Transport Bus eastbound on Chestnut Street when he collided with the Chestnut Street overpass. He was transported to Winthrop-University Hospital for head injuries. There were no passengers in the vehicle and the bridge was not apparently damaged. The driver was ticketed for disregarding a bridge clearance sign.

April 1: Officers are investigating a two-vehicle property damage traffic accident that occurred on Franklin Ave and Ninth Street, where one of the vehicles, a silver/gray four-door sedan, fled the scene northbound on Franklin Avenue.

April 2: Copper piping and power tools valued at $8,300 were removed from a house under construction on Ninth Street.

April 2: Officer Russell stopped a vehicle on Franklin Avenue and Eleventh Street for improper tail lights and for an expired inspection sticker. The driver, a male 33-year-old from Floral Park, was placed under arrest and charged with four counts aggravated unlicensed operation due to three open license suspensions, a prior DWI suspension, driving without a court ordered interlock system and an administrative violation.

March 31: Nassau County detectives arrested a male 30-year-old from Elmont for an outstanding Garden City Justice Court traffic warrant.
