A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 19: Garden City detectives arrested a female 26-year-old from Queens Village for grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument for an incident that occurred March 13 at Lord & Taylor where she used a forged credit card to purchase a pair of earrings valued at more than $4,500.

March 20: A Whitehall Boulevard resident had just pulled into her driveway after returning home from a jewelry store in Franklin Square and was approached by a male subject who started to converse with her about a flat tire on her vehicle. As the subject diverted the resident’s attention, a second subject then entered her vehicle and removed two pocketbooks belonging to her and her mother. Both subjects entered a brown van and proceeded to drive away. The resident was apparently a victim of a deception scam where the subjects apparently punctured the tire at the jewelry store and followed the homeowners until they stopp due to the flat tire and as one subject offers to help the victim, the other subject steals items from within the vehicle. A similar incident occurred in Stewart Manor earlier in the day.

March 21: Officer Oswald arrested a male 28-year-old from Hempstead on Clinton Road and Osborne Road for DWI. He was also charged with an unsafe lane change on northbound Clinton Road at Brook Street and then passing a red light at Stewart Avenue.

March 21: As a result of a joint investigation with Nassau County Probation Officers, Garden City police officer arrested a male 43-year-old from Glen Cove on County Seat Drive for driving an auto without a court ordered interlock device due to a prior DWI conviction. He was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and for an outstanding Glen Cove traffic warrant.

March 21: Officer Florio arrested a female 31-year-old from Elmont for DWI (refused testing) after she drove her vehicle into a tree on Stewart Avenue in the vicinity of St. Paul’s. She was also charged with an unsafe lane change, unregistered auto and uninspected auto. She was treated at a local hospital for a leg injury.

March 21: With assistance from Garden City DPW, officers issued two appearance tickets to a male 34-year-old from Flushing, for unauthorized construction on village curbing and catch basin in Parking Field 9E.
