Incumbent captures 52.37 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Kemp Hannon, R-Garden City, was re-elected to his 13th term
Tuesday after defeating opponent Ryan Cronin, D-, in the race for 6th
Senate District.
Hannon captured 52.37 percent of the total vote against the non-incumbent, Cronin.
“I
want to thank each and every resident who came out to vote, especially
given the very difficult situation facing most Nassau County residents,
particularly those who are still without power after the devastating
storm from last week,” Hannon. said. “Exercising one’s
right to vote is one of our most important fundamental freedoms, and
Nassau County residents overcame many great obstacles to do so.”
Hannon was first elected to state senate in 1989 and and was
re-elected to a 12th term in November 2010.
The 6th Senatorial District includes Bethpage,
East Meadow, Farmingdale, Plainview, Plainedge, Massapequa, Uniondale,
Lakeview, Hempstead, Garden City, Levittown, Salisbury, Island Trees,
Franklin Square, Garden City South and a small portion of Wantagh and
Seaford.
