A new initiative of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce is the establishment of what is expected to become an annual tradition – the Pineapple Ball Pre-Party to be held on Monday evening, December 3, 6:30 p.m. in POSH at the Garden City Hotel.

This first-time-ever event will usher in the 2012 Garden City holiday season and provide guests an opportunity to meet the honorees to be feted at the Pineapple Ball on Friday evening, April 19.

Honorees include: “Citizen of the Year” Dr. Anthony Randi, founder and chair of the annual Walter J. Gallagher Memorial Lacrosse Tournament; “Community Achievement Award” recipient Diane Chapman, head coach, Garden City High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team, and head coach, 2011 LI Champion Girls Field Hockey Team; and “Business Person(s) of the Year” Dale Brokaw, Jan McDonough and Lois Tigh, partners of the long-standing Garden City Pear Tree boutique.

This is expected to be a fun networking party with guests enjoying an array of delectable hors d’oeuvres, fine wines, beer and soda. It will be an opportunity to also meet with the new management of the Garden City Hotel who has planned an elegant evening.

The Pineapple Ball Committee will hold a raffle for two tickets to the Pineapple Ball, valued at $500, plus a silent auction. Also present will be Alex Donner of the renowned Alex Donner Orchestra which will provide the dance music for the Pineapple Ball.

Mr. Donner will be bringing his holiday music on an iPod, adding to the holiday spirit which is sure to prevail throughout the evening.
