Garden City's D'Antonio Named First Team All-State

Garden City Trojans football player Scott D'Antonio was named to the Class AA First Team All-State this week by the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA).

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound linebacker was an integral part of the Trojans' Class II Long Island championship season.

According to Newsday [paid link], D'Antonio finished the regular season with 47 tackles, "including nine for losses, and 33 assists."

Along with his accomplishments as a defensive player, D'Antonio was also one of the Trojans' leading rushers this season. The senior's biggest game came against Long Beach on Oct. 12 when he rushed the ball seven times for a staggering 134 yards and two touchdowns.

D'Antonio also caught a 46-yard touchdown pass in the Nassau County championship this year against Wantagh to help turn a deficit into a 21-17 Trojan win.

Garden City went 7-1 during the regular season before going on a postseason run and winning the Long Island championship.
