A 20-year-old man was killed Tuesday night in Garden City after he was hit on his motorcycle at an intersection with a traffic light out due to a power outage caused by Hurricane Sandy.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 8:25 p.m., the man was operating a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Washington Avenue with an 18-year-old female passenger.

The motorcycle struck a 2003 Econoline van that was traveling eastbound at the Stewart Avenue intersection.
