While some say nothing compares to the smell of a fresh Christmas tree in the living room others can't stand the thought of vacuuming tiny pine needles until June.

A spirited debate on whether or not a fake or real Christmas tree is the way to go this holiday season began on our Facebook page Wednesday. Here are some shared opinions on the topic thus far:

Jennifer Smith-Zupicich says she prefers real because it "makes the whole house smell like Christmas." Bridget Byrne agreed. "Nothing smells like christmas likes Fresh trimmed christmas tree! You can't get that with fake!" she wrote.

Micheline Hull Dolan prefers fake for several reasons: "allergies and finding pine needles wedged in little crevices till June makes real attractive only outdoors" she wrote. Celenia Estime agreed. "Real is nicer but too messy!" she wrote.

Lara Young has bought both. "When we lived in Maine, real. Everywhere else, fake" she wrote.

We thought we'd continue the debate here. Which do you prefer? Real or fake? Let us know in the comments below.
