Week in Review: Top Headlines
Here's a recap of all the news Patch brought you last week.
Last week, Patch brought you some scary news of an access door that detached from a Boeing 767 while en route to JFK. A county worker found the missing part after it crashed on the steps of the Franklin Avenue courthouse. Luckily no one was hurt but Garden City's Environmental Advisory Board is adding more fuel to the fire in its fight against low-flying planes and the noise – and dangers – that surround them.
Patch also brought you coverage of the first official heat wave of the summer of 2010 and what people around town were doing to keep cool. Continuing coverage of the recording-breaking temperatures had Garden City firefighters battling brush fires in Cold Spring Harbor and LIPA crews busy working to restore power to those without. We also found out how the Gulf oil spill is affecting fish prices right here in Garden City. Read on to find out where else Patch was last week.
