Upcoming Events for Garden City's Seniors

A Christmas luncheon, Frankie Avalon show and more coming up in December.

The Department of Recreation and Parks is offering the following activities for Garden City senior citizens in December:

Frankie Avalon Show: On Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Recreation Department will take a trip to Atlantic City to see the Frankie Avalon show at the Taj Mahal. A Prime Time bus will take us to Atlantic City, where attendees will receive $20 in free play, a buffet lunch and the Frankie Avalon show. This will be a full day trip.
Our Trip to Atlantic City on December 4 is now open to non-resident seniors as well as our Garden City residents. The price for residents of the village is $70, made payable to “Prime Time Travel.” The non-subsidized price per seat for any non-resident guest will be $95. Visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave to register for this trip.

Christmas Luncheon: The Recreation and Parks Department will host a Christmas Luncheon Dec. 12 with lunch, music and maybe a couple of special surprises! More information and registration for the event will be posted at a later date so check back in early November for further details on how to join us.

"A Crosby Christmas" On Saturday, Dec. 21, at 4 p.m., Molloy College will host “A Crosby Christmas.” Based on the classic “Bing Crosby Christmas Specials” Kathryn Crosby will lead an evening filled with performances of Broadway stars and well as a local children’s chorus and members of the Children’s Orchestra Society. There will be a special appearance by Bob Spiotto.

The Department of Recreation and Parks has secured tickets to this event. The Recreation bus will provide transportation. We will leave St. Paul’s Senior Center at 3:15 p.m. and return to the Center after the show is finished. The cost of each ticket will be $44, checks only, made payable to Molloy College. Space is limited so please register early.

Proceeds from this event will go to support scholarships for Vocal Performance majors at Molloy College. For further information or to register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.
