9/11 Memorial/Boy Scout Troop 56

Boy Scouts Troop 56 in Garden City will be honoring the memories of those lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 as well as paying thanks to the emergency responders.

The American flags that are normally only put up on 7th Street on federal holidays will be posted on this day by the troop. The flag program is sponsored by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce and coordinated by the American Legion's William Bradford Post 265.

After setting up the flags, Troop 56 members will then proceed to the 9/11 memorial near theGazebo on Stewart and Hilton avenues to pay their respects. A moment of silence will be observed and the Pledge of Allegiance recited at 8:46 a.m. Boy Scouts throughout the country are planning similar events as part of the "Scout Surge" program.  All are welcome to attend.
