The annual family-friendly event allows visitors to take part in all the traditional elements of the holiday, including confetti and counting down to the new year, on a schedule designed for children…and exhausted parents.
Activities start at noon on Dec. 31 and feature themed crafts, face painting and a DJ to keep the intergalactic party going all afternoon long.
Is that a UFO hovering over the Museum lobby? No, it’s the New Year’s ball waiting for a Times Square-style ball drop at 4 p.m. to welcome in 2014! In the hours before that moment, families will have the opportunity to create all the elements needed for the celestial celebration, including:
- Rocket into the New Year hats
- Space Shakers (noisemakers)
- Reach for the Stars necklaces
- Spinning Saucers (spaceship top)
- Out of this World face painting
- Alien Pops (snack)
