The Garden City scout leader arrested on child pornography charges was arraigned Thursday morning.
Edward Orenchuk, III, was arraigned before Judge Sondra Pardes on three counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by A Child as a Sexually Motivated Felony and three counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child.
During August and September 2012, Nassau County District Attorney investigators witnessed Orenchuk making multiple images of child pornography available over the Internet for download by other people, Rice said. Investigators tracked the source of those images to a Wheeler Avenue residence in E. Garden City, according to the district attorney's office.
Bail was set at $400,000 bond or $100,000 cash and he is due back in court on Dec. 17. Orenchuk was represented at arraignment by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.
