Dr. Francis J. Lanzone, affectionately known to many as "The Doc," passed away July 12. He was 62.
The longtime orthopedic surgeon, who worked in both Mineola and Garden City, leaves behind his wife, Zora, and two daughters, Alyson Wiesner (Elisha) and Ashley Rose Killough (Matthew).
Visitation was Tuesday 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Fairchild Funeral Chapel, 1201 Franklin Ave. in Garden City. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Manhasset with interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
Dr. Lanzone, "a man with a big heart will be greatly missed" according to a post on the Facebook page of B.K. Sweeney's Uptown Grille in Garden City, where Dr. Lanzone was a regular.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
