On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Garden City PTA, we would like to thank the School Board members, the Administration and the GCTA for all the effort that has been put into formulating the budget for the 2012-2013 school year.
We appreciate you listening to our concerns and the concerns of our membership. You have fielded difficult questions that we have brought to you from parents and members of the community. We hope the answers to these questions have helped people to have a greater understanding of the budget process. Being in attendance at the numerous board meetings and work sessions, we also have gained an awareness of the Board and the Administration’s frustrations with the state-driven mandates and laws that can have a major impact on the school budget.
While we are always disappointed to see any programs cut, we recognize the present constraints you are working under. We believe all parties have worked together to put forth a budget for next year that addresses the needs of the majority of students while minimizing the financial impact on the community as best as possible given the over 1 percent impact on the tax levy due to the school bond.
As the PTA, we will continue to advocate for all children in our school district as we look to offer the best possible educational experience for current and future children of our community.
